MHS Robotics Team Wins Think Award On Road To State

(Mustang, Oklahoma – March 29, 2021) – Mustang High School hosted the FIRST Tech Challenge Oklahoma Mars Qualifier on Saturday, March 13, 2021 and the “Monsters of Mechanics (MOM) earned the prestigious “Think Award” on their way to qualifying for the State competition.  

“All the teams had fun and their robots performed well, said Matt Moore, MHS teacher and FIRST Robotics Coach.  “One of our teams, nicknamed Monsters of Mechanics, won the "Think Award" and qualified for the state championship tournament..  The "Think Award"  is given to the team that best reflects the journey taken as they experienced the engineering design process during the build season. “Their engineering portfolio and notebook contained outstanding engineering content focused on the design and build stage of the team’s robot.” Journal entries included descriptions of the underlying science and mathematics of the robot design and game strategies, the designs, redesigns, successes, and opportunities for improvement.
