Scholarship Opportunity for OU-Bound Seniors – Russ Ortiz Scholarship

The Russ Ortiz Scholarship is a scholarship opportunity for seniors who have committed to attending the University of Oklahoma this upcoming fall.

The Russ Ortiz Scholarship awards three $1,000 scholarships to incoming freshmen or rising sophomores who exemplify academic excellence, strong character, and community involvement. This scholarship honors Russell Reid Ortiz, a former OU baseball player and Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity member who played a pivotal role in the 1994 College World Series championship team and went on to have a successful MLB career.

Scholarship Details:

• Application Deadline: July 15, 2025
• Finalist Notification: August 1, 2025
• Interviews: Week of August 12, 2025
• Scholarship Winners Announced:  Week of September 2nd

The application requires personal and academic information, an essay, and a summary of extracurricular and community service involvement. Finalists will be invited for an interview before the selection of recipients.
