*OKLAHOMA CITY SOCIETY OF PETROLEUM ENGINEERS offers scholarships for
students majoring in Petroleum Engineering and/or children of Society of
Petroleum Engineer members majoring in Engineering or Science. An ACT
composite score of at least a 24 (with a 24 in math and science) or an
SAT combined score of 1090 is required. Applications are available in
the MHS Counseling Office scholarship file or at
www.speokc.org. The deadline is
March 28, 2008.
*KERR CENTER INSTITUTE OF SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE ESSAY CONTEST gives
money awards to 3 winning essays on “The Value of Locally Grown Foods.”
The essay must be original, between 800-1000 words, and documented

All essays must be received in the Kerr’s Center office by 5:00p.m.

*EL RENO ELKS LODGE #743 awards 3 $1000 scholarships based on academics,
work experience, community service, activities, and an essay.
Applications are available in the MHS Counseling Office scholarship
file. Applications must be mailed to El Reno Elks Lodge #743, 415 S.
Rock Island, El Reno, OK 73036 and must be received no later than March
31, 2008.
FIRST FIDELITY BANK SCHOLARSHIP is awarded in the amount of $1000 to 1
Mustang High School student based on accomplishments, test scores,
grades and statement of need. The winner must attend OU or OSU.
Applications are available in the MHS Counseling Office scholarship file
and must be received at First Fidelity Bank by March 31, 2008.
NORTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA A&M (NEO in Miami, OK) has awarded Mustang High
School with one tuition scholarship for a student attending NEO next
fall. See your counselor by April 1, 2008 if you are interested.
*OKLAHOMA HERITAGE ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION is an examination
based on Oklahoma’s history and its people. Students can earn one $1000
cash scholarship and one tuition waiver. Pre-registration is required by
March 21st and the exam date is April 5, 2008 at 15 locations across the
state. Study guides are available at
www.oklahomaheritage.com
under the scholarship tab. Pre-registration slips are available in the
MHS Counseling Office scholarship file.
*ROBERT C. BYRD HONORS SCHOLARSHIP requires a 32 composite ACT or 2130
combined SAT and acceptance into an institution of higher learning
(public or private, in-state or out-of-state) for fall semester 2008.
Applications are available in the MHS Counseling Office scholarship file
and must be postmarked no later than April 11, 2008.
*2008 STUDENT-VIEW SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM requires completion of a 15-20
minute survey about colleges in the area. The scholarship will be
awarded via a random drawing of all completed applications. Log on to

complete the survey by April 22, 2008.
THE FOUNTAINHEAD ESSAY CONTEST for 11th and 12th graders is open to
students worldwide and awards over $40,000 in scholarship money. The
23rd Annual Contest of Ayn Rand’s Novel The Fountainhead must be between
800-1600 words, type-written and double-spaced. Entrants must select one
of the provided topics—topic information is available in the scholarship
file in the MHS Counseling Office. Visit

BIGSUN SCHOLARSHIP helps young athletes succeed in the their academic
pursuits. All senior student athletes are eligible for this award,
regardless of which sport they are participating in. Send a 500 word or
less essay describing why you should be the winner of this award to
athleticawards@bigsunathletics.com no later than June 20, 2008.
UNIVERSAL EQUIPMENT OPERATOR APPRENTICESHIP is offered to approximately
10 applicant yearly by the Universal Equipment Operator State JATC.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a HS diploma or GED, have
a valid driver’s license and must qualify for an Oklahoma Commercial
Driver’s License. Applications may be picked up the first 5 working days
of each month and then returned the following Monday at the JATC offices
at 9412 N. Robinson, OKC,OK

MAKING IT COUNT will award 1 national $5000 and 5 regional $1000
scholarships to high school seniors who demonstrate the “winning
characteristics”. Students are eligible to win only if they view a

AMERICAN LEGION HIGH SCHOOL ORATORICAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM involves
presenting a prepared oration of 8-10 minutes that is an original effort
of the contestant and a 3-5 minute oration on an assigned topic. For

THE CHRISTIAN CONNECTOR provides a free Christian college information
service as well as a $2500 Christian college scholarship drawing.
Students can simply log onto

be entered in the $2500 drawing.
NELNET $1 MILLION SCHOLARSHIP GIVEAWAY requires no academic information,
no essay, no ACT/SAT score, and no minimum GPA–all you have to do is

Drawings are ongoing throughout the year with the final drawing date as
August 8, 2008.
DECA MEMBER SCHOLARSHIPS are available exclusively to high school DECA
members from many companies and sources. Some require employment with
the company offering the scholarship; others are open to any DECA member
meeting the criteria. The complete 2008 DECA Scholarship Guide is
available for viewing in the MHS Counseling Office scholarship file and
also with Mrs. Cerny in the MHS DECA room.
OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY FRESHMAN THEATRE SCHOLARSHIPS of $1000 or more
are awarded to up to 10 promising freshmen theatre students. Auditions
and portfolio reviews are required and tours may be scheduled. Audition
dates range from February 1-April 18, 2008. Application materials and
further information is available in the MHS Counseling Office
scholarship file.
Most of the colleges and universities have February and March
application deadlines, so be aware of those approaching dates!
